The best The Blood of Dawnwalker quest order is to protect Withering Away first, combine nearby objectives by time segment, and leave non-urgent errands for later rather than trying to finish every prologue quest. Time-sensitive quests show a clock, and an hourglass tells you when an interaction spends part of the day. This page gives the route; open the dedicated Withering Away walkthrough when you only need the herb and medicine answer.

How to read the quest log

The prologue makes quests compete on purpose. A clock marker indicates that an objective can expire, while an hourglass shows that a choice will use one or more time segments. Those symbols matter more than the distance to a marker: walking and ordinary exploration are not the same as confirming an action that advances the story.

Read the active tracker before leaving an area. If a task shares the same road, village, or landmark as an urgent objective, put it in the same loop; if it uses a segment without supporting your goal, leave it. For a deeper explanation of the underlying rule, see the 30-day time-system guide.

The safest early order is Live Bait in the first morning segment, followed by Dead Drop and Withering Away in the second. Around noon, choose Page-Turner only if that relationship scene matters to you; otherwise reserve the time for the medicine step. Return for Withering Away part two, then move through the afternoon and evening with the most valuable nearby objectives.

A practical late-prologue route groups Enter Not, Deep Down, Blasphemy, Disturbed, and Like Father, Like Son around their relevant paths and time windows. Exact dialogue preferences are personal, and not every optional result is compatible with every priority. Use the time cost as a decision tool, not a reason to copy a dialogue list that does not match your version of Coen.

The quests that should not wait

Withering Away is the key early priority because it begins from Pieter’s request for medicine for Esme and carries the clearest urgency. Get the herbs from Anca, return when the objective tells you to do so, and prepare the medicine with hot water and three spoonfuls. The specific walkthrough explains the optional Page-Turner branch without spoiling unrelated later events.

Live Bait is a useful first detour because it is nearby and can fit naturally at the beginning of the day. Dead Drop is another compact route that sits near the village and can reward players who use focus to follow its clues. Treat both as route companions, however, not as reasons to postpone the family objective.

Optional quests and trade-offs

Page-Turner is an optional extension of time spent with Anca; it can be worthwhile if you value its relationship content, but it uses a segment that could serve another prologue objective. Into The Den can wait because it is not time-sensitive, making it a good example of a quest that should not crowd out a clock-marked task. Someone Needs A Lesson and On The Run also have different costs and priorities than the central medicine route.

Other useful prologue names include Blasphemy, Deep Down, Disturbed, Enter Not, and Like Father, Like Son. Do not assume a guide’s recommended order means the alternatives are invalid. The game’s premise is that Coen cannot help everyone, so an honest route identifies the cost and leaves the final choice to the player.

Build a route by location

Start around Coen’s house and Laslea Glen, then gather nearby leads before crossing the area. Anca’s house lies along the western path from town, while the graveyard, fields, village centre, and forest approaches can be combined according to your available segments. A short loop saves more confusion than repeatedly crossing the same landmarks for a single new quest marker.

Use your map before committing to an hourglass action. Towers can reveal nearby points of interest and shrines support later travel, but you do not need to clear the map in the prologue. The map, locations, and merchants guide gives the broader landmark context without turning this quest page into a location catalogue.

Day, night, and quest solutions

Some objectives reward a change of form or time of day. Coen uses sword and magic in his human state, while nighttime vampirism can change vertical movement, infiltration, and combat. Before calling an encounter impossible, ask whether the route is designed for a different form or whether you are spending a segment to solve it in the least useful state.

Quest order and build order should support each other. If a task points toward a difficult fight, make sure your weapon, healing items, and active abilities are ready before you spend the time. The Combat & Builds guide and equipment guide cover those preparations without duplicating quest steps.

Avoid accidental quest failures

Do not steal when a guard response would cost more time than the item is worth. Avoid unlocking a shrine skill in the prologue unless the displayed segment cost fits your plan. Save before a clearly marked commitment if you are pursuing a particular branch, then allow the outcome to stand when it is simply a different story rather than a mistake.

If an entry appears blocked, reread its exact wording and confirm the previous tracker update completed. Check the map, your required item, the present day-night state, and whether you knowingly passed its time window. A concise bug report needs the quest name, the current segment, and the displayed objective; “the guide did not work” is not enough to distinguish a missed branch from a changed patch.

Sources and update note

The quest-time premise is confirmed on the official Dawnwalker site. This page’s launch route was synthesized from the relevant quest, walkthrough, and time-system material supplied for this project, with unrelated articles, comments, ads, and duplicate text excluded. Recheck the current quest tracker after a patch.
